bodacious jazz concert at my music school!

i played two jazz songs at a small concert with Tónskóla Sigursveins D. Kristinssonar (the music school of Sigursveinn D. Kristinsson) earlier today. A sort of finalizing concert for the work students had put in this passing winter. And man!! What a sexy concert! if i had known in advance how crazy this concert was going to be, i would've told more people and sooner.

there were maybe 25 people watching and a roughly equal number of students/teachers playing :P

anyway, there were small jazzbands, playing rockin solos, there was a song in 7/4 or 7/something, which is always a plus in my book, there was even a big band!! (which performed really well, excellent dynamics), and more, unfortunately, i don't have a recording of the concert, but here's the list of songs with youtube videos of those songs (where i could find them) and their respective performers.

The songs all sounded quite different usually, you can maybe sort of tell by the instruments chosen for each song compared to the youtube vids.

electric elephant at a.hansen hfj.

saw electric elephant at a.hansen in hafnarfjörður on may 2nd. Looking forward to seeing what they'll do in the future. I tried to ask the band members before they went on stage what type of music they played. The answers i got were: noise, just noise.

Well, i liked it! kind of funky, and some progressive rock tones. Definitely danceable! which is always a plus. But don't take my word for it, listen to these testimonies!

they are all obviously skilled at their instruments, which can help. Just listen to the guitar solo! I am a total sucker for synths too, and the keyboardist had some sweet ones.

They did musíktilraunir 2015, which is an icelandic battle of the bands sort of. You can hear some demos from them there here:
While We're Young (same as youtube vid)

you can check out their facebook page ---> here <---
